Seminar Winter 2024 Curriculum

The Abraham Joshua Heschel Seminary offers a comprehensiveand varied study programprogram thatwhich is based on two pillars: the academic curriculum, which is integrated into the BA and MA programs in Jewish Theology at the University of Potsdam, and the independent rabbinical curriculum.
University courses mainly take place from Monday to Wednesday, while the courses of the
Heschel Seminar Wednesday afternoong/evening, Thursday and Friday morning.

Rabbiner Prof. Brad Artson and Rabbi Cheryl PeretzRabbinic Leadership

Under the direction of the Rabbinicaln Managers and the and the Deputyn Rabbinic Manager and the of the seminar connect Contributions from changing lecturers important findings from biblical, Talmudic, medieval and modern sources with discussions on current challenges of Jewish lifes. Studynen deal with the Development of rabbinical teaching, to explore moral issues and to be able to work on these in practice in their future positions.

Rabbiner Netanel OlhoeftHagut Yehudit (Jewish Thought)

This course bs concerned with the rich theological tradition of Judaism and draws on texts texts from philosophy, mysticism, Mussar, Haggada and contemporaryr confessionalr thinkers.
The students
deepen different approaches to Jewish thinkings and are enabled toto formulate their ownpositions relate.

Chapters of the Talmud are by context-related lectures from the Mishnah, Tosefta and Rischonim supplemented.
The focus is on the
Deepening the Hebrew and Aramaic language skills of the studentsthe linking of Talmudic texts with the Tanakh and the development their own skills in dealing with commentaries and sources.

Rabbiner Josh Weiner -Perspectives of the Halakha

This course focuses on the central halachic Texts (Mischneh Torah, Contribution Yosef, Schulchan Aruch, Tur, Mischna Berurah) and medieval and modern Responsa.
